Tooth-Colored Fillings at Streitz Dental
Tooth-colored fillings consist of a material called dental composite, which blends in with the surrounding tooth. This material is a mixture of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium. Most patients prefer a composite filling compared to amalgam, or silver, filling. In the past, composite fillings were more prone to ‘leaking,’ meaning that bacteria would get under the filling and cause tooth decay. However, with today’s modern composite materials and our precise attention to detail during placement, composite fillings have shown to be an excellent choice for most restorations. Lastly, there are hundreds of different composite brands and types to choose from; we have done the research and can proudly say we offer Filtek™ Supreme Ultra composite as our primary material. Filtek™ Supreme Ultra is a premium composite and offers excellent esthetics and strength.
