Fluoride Treatment at Streitz Dental

Fluoride treatments are used to prevent tooth decay by bonding to the tooth, making them more resistant to cavities. We recommend fluoride treatments for children and for those patients who may be at higher risk of developing cavities. High risk factors for developing increased decay include:

  • eating disorders
  • drug or alcohol abuse
  • lack of regular professional dental care
  • active orthodontic treatment combined with poor oral hygiene
  • exposed root surfaces of teeth
  • poor diet
  • decreased salivary flow, resulting in dry mouth
  • existing restorations (fillings)
  • tooth enamel defects
  • undergoing head and neck radiation therapy
