Implant-Supported Dentures at Streitz Dental
Whether you have been wearing dentures your entire life or have been recently told you need dentures because your teeth are not fixable, implant-supported dentures are an excellent option. While nothing is as good as keeping your natural teeth, using implants that connect with snaps or screws to a denture are the next best thing.
We have the ability to make a prosthesis (denture) that is permanently retained in your mouth with screws. These dentures are referred to as screw-retained dentures, or hybrids.
Alternatively, we can make dentures that ‘snap’ on to implants. These types are referred to as implant-retained dentures and allow extra holding power. We will often use what is called a locator attachment that acts like a button, which locks the denture in place. This type also has the ability to be removed by the patient, unlike a screw-retained denture.
We receive many questions concerning implants and dentures every day because this treatment is so heavily advertised. However, these advertisements are slightly misleading because this treatment is not appropriate for all patients and must be determined on a case-by-case basis. Drs. Streitz can provide dentures and implants in one day by teaming with area surgeons, and if you are interested in this treatment you will be fully evaluated by our team to determine if you are a candidate.
